Magnetic properties of Co/Rh „001... multilayers studied by x-ray magnetic-circular dichroism

چکیده
The layer-averaged magnetic moments of Co and Rh have been measured in sputter deposited Co/Rh ~001! multilayer thin films using the x-ray magnetic circular dichroism. The Rh moments were measured at both the L and M absorption edges, where we find that the Rh moment decreases as a function of increasing Rh layer thickness (tRh). The decline of the layer-averaged Rh moment is well described in terms of a simple dilution, implying that the Rh moment is confined to the interfacial region. We find that the Co moment remains largely unaffected, maintaining a bulklike value of 1.7mB in the region preceding the first antiferromagnetic coupling peak where tRh ranges from 0 to 4 Å. We also find, via application of the dichroism sum rules, that the ratio ^Lz&/^Sz& for Co increases '10% for this same region. Finally, we contrast the magnetic behavior of the Co/Rh ~001! and Fe/Rh ~001! multilayer systems. @S0163-1829~98!07641-3#

Structural and magnetic properties of Cu/Co and Au/Co multilayers
The structural and magnetic properties of Cu//Co and Au//Co multilayers are studied by X-ray absorption spectroscopy. The results of EXAFS measurements show that thin cobalt layers in Cu /Co and Au /Co multilayers have a different structure imposed by the mismatch with Cu (2%) and Au (14%). The most interesting results for Cu/Co multilayers are provided by magnetic circular X-ray dichroism (MCX...

Ni-Co/Cu multilayers have been grown by electrodeposition method from a single electrolyte (based on Ni(SO4).6H2O, Co(SO4).7H2O, Cu(SO4) and H3BO3) using galvanostatic control on titanium sublayers. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns confirmed the multilayered structure with the nanometer thicknesses. Also, electron diffraction x-ray (EDX) analysis confirmed the purity of deposited samples. ...
متن کاملExploring the microscopic origin of magnetic anisotropies with X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) spectroscopy
Symmetry breaking and bonding at interfaces leads to a variety of anisotropy phenomena in transition metal sandwiches and multilayers. The charge density, the spin density and the orbital moment become anisotropic. These e!ects can be studied by the X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) technique which senses the local anisotropy of charge, spin and angular momentum around an atom that is ex...

For Co-Pt multilayers, the magnetic moments of the Pt atoms and the x-ray magnetic circular dichroism ~XMCD! spectra at the L2 and L3 edge of Pt are calculated by the ab initio density-functional electron theory. The calculated magnetization profile for an ideal Co-Pt interface is in part different from the profile obtained by x-ray resonant magnetic reflectometry for the real interface. Some o...

The structural and magnetic properties of sputter deposited epitaxial Fe 7.5 A/Pt tPt (001) multilayers (tPt = 0-15 A) are investigated using x-ray di raction, Kerr magnetometry, and x-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD). Xray di raction shows that there is a crystalline phase change from bct to fct at a Pt thickness of 4 A. The Fe XMCD is enhanced by 10% over its bulk value for Pt thicknese...
